The following is a description of the dried senna pods:
Senna pods are dried and used as a cathartic to stimulate the intestinal peristalsis, triggering bowel movement 12 hours later. Senna pods come in 500g and 1kg sizes. Other uses for senna pods include anal-fissures, anti-diarrheal, anti-inflammatory, cellular regeneration, cleansing, detoxifying, hemorrhoids, pre- and post-operative cleansing, and prevention of lazy bowel syndrome. Senna pods should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Overdose can lead to painful stomach cramps and diarrhea. Senna pods can cause contact dermatitis.

HOW TO USE
Steep 3-6 pods in warm water for 10 15 min hot infusion
or
Steep in cold water for 6 8 hours cold infusion.

Anthraquinone glycosides. Sennosides A and B, Sennidin A & B, sennosides C & D. Glycosides.

WARNINGS
Do not use for longer than 10 days. Always remember that constipation is the cause of something else and the cause of this should be sought, and dealt with.
Habitual use will cause lazy bowel syndrome.
Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Overdose can lead to painful stomach cramps and diarrhea.
It can be corrected with 1/4 amount of a stomachic herb like ginger or fennel seeds with the dose.
May cause contact dermatitis.
Can cause nausea, vomiting, and may lead to inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract.
